The Fish and the Pirates – Part 2
After the big escape, Fino the little silver fish was famous all across the reef. Everywhere he swam, other fish called out, “There goes Fino, the pirate trickster!”
But the pirates were not happy. Up on their black-sailed ship, Captain Grimtooth slammed his fist on the table.
“That slippery silver fish made fools of us! This time, we’ll catch him for sure.”
The next morning, the pirates lowered something new into the water—a giant glass tank filled with shiny seashells and tasty-looking seaweed. Fino’s friends swam up to him.
“Fino, look! Treasure!” the parrotfish said.
Fino narrowed his eyes. “That’s no treasure. That’s a trap.”
He swam closer to inspect it. Sure enough, a secret rope was tied to the tank, ready to pull it up as soon as fish went inside. Fino thought fast.
He called the clever octopus, Orla. “Can you help me move the seashells?”
Orla winked. “Leave it to me.”
Together, they carried the shiny shells far away to a safe cave. Then, Fino filled the glass tank with prickly sea urchins—creatures the pirates would never want to touch.
When the pirates saw the tank moving, they grinned and yanked it up. But instead of fish, dozens of spiky sea urchins glared at them!
“YAAAH!” Captain Grimtooth roared as one almost poked his hand. The pirates dropped the tank back into the sea and sailed away, shouting, “We’ll get you next time, fish!”
Fino and Orla laughed until bubbles filled the water. “If they come back,” Orla said, “we’ll be ready.”
Fino grinned. “Let them try. The sea belongs to us.”
Moral: Cleverness and teamwork can outsmart even the trickiest traps.
